DSPMU Hosts ‘Code Jam 2026’: Over 100 Tech Students Compete in Three-Stage Coding Showdown

RANCHI: The University Seminar Hall at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) buzzed with technical innovation on August 13, 2026, as it successfully hosted the grand ‘Code Jam 2026’ competition. Organized by ‘Coder’s Hub DSPMU’ under the guidance of the BCA Department, the mega tech event drew over 100 enthusiastic participants from various technical streams, including BCA, BSc IT, MCA, and BSc Electronics.

The event kicked off with an inspiring keynote address by DSPMU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Manohar, who drew a striking parallel between life and programming by noting that just as a program ceases to function if a single semicolon is omitted during coding, discipline is essential for students to achieve success in the field of computer science.

University Registrar Dr. Dhananjay Vasudev Dwivedi also delivered an encouraging speech, urging the students to push boundaries and scale new heights in the global tech landscape. Departmental leadership, including BCA Department Coordinator Dr. Namita Lal and Assistant Professor and Mentor Dr. Syed Zafar Abbas, offered strong words of encouragement to the crowd, alongside faculty mentors Dr. Ganesh Baske, Dr. Dharmaraj Kumar, Dr. Ranjay Kumar, and Shweta Kumari.

The competition itself was meticulously structured to test the participants’ problem-solving speed, teamwork, technical creativity, and core understanding of artificial intelligence across three distinct levels. In the first stage, the Debugging Challenge, all 100-plus participants faced a race against time to identify 10 hidden bugs in code blocks written across C, C++, Python, or Java and rewrite the correct solutions.

The field was then narrowed down to 25 shortlisted candidates for the second stage, an AI image generation round, where contestants showcased technical creativity by generating high-quality images using AI tools based on just three precise prompts. For the final stage, the DSA Showdown, the top 10 elite programmers battled on the HackerRank platform, solving two complex data structure and algorithm problems with absolute accuracy and speed.

Following the grueling, day-long competitive battle, students from the Computer Applications (BCA) department dominated the leaderboard. First place was secured by Anas Alam (Semester 2) with a score of 45 out of 50 marks, followed closely by Manish Kumar Ganju (Semester 4) in second place with 44 out of 50 marks, and Yuvraj Singh (Semester 4) taking third place with 42 out of 50 marks.
All the winners were formally honored with ‘Certificates of Excellence’ by the vice-chancellor and the department coordinator.

The successful tech event concluded with an official vote of thanks by Dr. Dharmraj Kumar, who praised the flawless execution of the program and extended special recognition to the core organizing student committee—Prachi Kumari, Kunal Kumar Kesari, Ashish Kumar, Suraj Singh Munda, Neel Chakraborty, and Ujjwal Bhadani—alongside the volunteer team for ensuring a seamless and highly disciplined competition.
