MSME Mega Drive Sparks Entrepreneurial Boom in Dhanbad; Focuses on SC-ST & Women Businesses
DHANBAD: In a major push to supercharge India’s grassroots economy, the Ministry of MSME partnered with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry to host a powerful Entrepreneur Awareness and Special Vendor Development Programme. Held at the Railway Auditorium in Dhanbad on September 21, 2026, the high-octane event successfully drew over 200 aspiring and established entrepreneurs determined to scale their businesses. The primary mission of the drive was to create widespread awareness regarding the central government’s procurement initiatives and to unlock massive institutional supply chains for minority-led businesses across the region.
During the opening remarks, Smt. Kiran Maria Tiru highlighted the critical mandates under the Government of India’s Public Procurement Policy, which requires central ministries, departments, and CPSEs to source a minimum of 4% of their procurement from SC/ST-owned enterprises and 3% from women-owned enterprises. The forum served as a practical roadmap for business acceleration by providing targeted guidance for attendees at different operational stages. Aspiring founders were educated on the vital steps needed to register on the Udyam Portal to formalize their startups, while existing vendors received deep-dives into documentation, e-tendering, and securing bank subsidies for sustainable expansion.
The program successfully bridged the gap between grassroots innovators and industrial giants by facilitating direct interactive sessions. Representatives from prominent public sector buyers, including Bharat Coking Coal Limited and Damodar Valley Corporation, joined training institutions like JGTR and ICAI to simplify vendor empanelment processes. Additionally, leading financial institutions such as HDFC Bank and the Bank of Maharashtra participated in technical sessions to discuss credit facilitation options, making it easier for local entrepreneurs to access capital.
A powerhouse lineup of dignitaries graced the event to show their support, including Shri Sujeet Kumar from MSME-DFO, Shri Subodh Kant representing GeM, Shri Abhishek Kandulna from RSETI, and senior regional executives from the National SC-ST Hub Office in Ranchi. By directly connecting local talent with massive public sector buyers and banking partners, this collaborative initiative has strengthened the MSME ecosystem. Ultimately, the successful drive has set a new benchmark for inclusive industrial growth and economic empowerment throughout the state of Jharkhand.
