Photo Journalist Showcase Talent as JPA Hosts Mega Exhibition on World Photography Day

RANCHI: The Jharkhand Photojournalists Association (JPA) is organizing a grand photo competition and exhibition to celebrate World Photography Day, drawing significant interest from the student community across the state. The official event poster was recently launched by the chief guest, Dr. Jayati Simlai, Director of the Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS), marking the formal commencement of the event’s proceedings.

The two-day exhibition is scheduled to take place at the Audrey House Auditorium in Ranchi on August 18 and 19, remaining open for visitors from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Students representing various colleges and universities across Jharkhand are actively participating in this competitive exhibition, which features five distinct thematic categories designed to test their visual storytelling skills. The high-stakes competition will culminate in a grand felicitation ceremony on the evening of August 19 at the venue, where winners will be honored and awarded by a state minister.

To ensure professional standards, the organizers have instituted strict guidelines for all submissions. Participants must present their photographs printed strictly in an 18 × 12-inch format, incorporating a mandatory 1-inch white border around the image. Each student is permitted a maximum submission of two photographs per category. In a bid to maintain absolute authenticity, the association has strictly prohibited the use of photo editing software and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The organizing committee clarified that any entry detected with prohibited digital alterations or AI generation will face immediate disqualification, adding that the panel of judges’ verdict will be final, binding, and beyond challenge once announced.
