First time voter Ishika practiced ‘Pahle Matdan Fir Jalpan’

Ranchi: It was not less than a worship for BIT, Mesra, computer science student Ishika Mishra who on Saturday exercised her franchise at DAV Gandhinagar polling booth for the first time as first voter.

She got up early in the morning and after offering prayer went straight to polling booth with her slip and identity card. It was getting around 5am when she reached to the booth Her presence two hours before the scheduled time astonished polling party, but later polling official respected her enthusiasm for voting.

When the voting started at 7pm she was given opportunity to vote first and set a record for herself and present an example for those who do not show interest in voting.

Her mother had observed fasting to ensure victory of the candidate of her choice and thus after Ishika returned from polling booth, she went to temple to offer prayer with her mother.

Mishra had done her schooling from the same place where she exercised her franchise.

When asked for her reaction after voting she said: “Pahle Matdan FirJalpan slogan appealed me…. It was nice experience pressing EVM button and observing the VVPAT to ensure whether my vote went to the symbol of my choice or not….”
