RANCHI – Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar hosted a 17-member delegation from the National Defence College (NDC) at Lok Bhawan today, hailing the institution as a global leader in strategic studies while showcasing Jharkhand as a land of “heroes, minerals, and vibrant traditions.”
The Governor emphasized Jharkhand’s unique identity, noting that the state’s tribal communities are world-renowned for their nature-centric lifestyle and courage. He also highlighted the state’s tourism appeal, citing its waterfalls, lakes, and religious centers, and invited the delegation to explore these landmarks.
Focus on Sports and National Pride
During the interaction, Major General Hartej Singh Bajaj, leading a delegation that includes members from Ethiopia, Bangladesh, France, Brazil, and Japan, noted Jharkhand’s “immense potential” in athletics. The Governor responded by affirming the state’s dominance in hockey, archery, and football, specifically mentioning the legacy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the success of the Hockey India League (HIL) recently hosted in the state.
Education and Women’s Empowerment
Addressing developmental challenges, Governor Gangwar admitted that higher education standards currently fall short of expectations but assured that “continuous efforts” are underway for improvement. On the social front, he praised the Lakhpati Didi Yojana for its role in empowering the state’s hardworking women through financial independence.
Lok Bhawan Gardens Open to Public
Coinciding with the visit, the Governor announced that the Lok Bhawan gardens, featuring over 100 varieties of roses, are now open to the general public. He noted his personal commitment to the project, frequently interacting with visitors to gather suggestions for the garden’s upkeep. The NDC delegation concluded their visit with a tour of the floral displays.
