Welcome of new year at Birsa Agricultural University

Work towards making BAU the leading agricultural university of Eastern India: Vice Chancellor

Ranchi: Vice Chancellor of Birsa Agricultural University (BAU), Dr SC Dubey urged university employees to make a collective effort to develop BAU as the leading agricultural university of Eastern India.

He was addressing the New Year welcome ceremony held on Thursday at the headquarters ground. He said that the university has provided employees with a means of livelihood, support for their families, and the opportunity to build their own homes, along with identity and prestige in society. Therefore, no one should do anything that could harm the image of the university. When institutional interest is involved, personal interest should be set aside.

Highlighting the institution’s achievements in teaching, research, extension, and seed production, he said that despite a severe shortage of teachers and scientists, students are achieving good results. They are succeeding in postgraduate entrance examinations of leading agricultural universities and business schools across the country, and their placements are improving steadily.

He informed that the promotion process of teachers, which had been pending for the past two decades, has been completed and will be notified within this month. The work of preparing promotion rules for non-teaching staff of all cadres is in its final stage and will be sent to the state government for approval within one to two months. Efforts are also underway for getting authority to appoint Class IV employees, which would pave the way for absorption of the eligible casual workers of the university.

The welcome address was delivered by Director Administration Ejaz Anwar, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Registrar Dr Sailesh Chattopadhyay. On this occasion, Dr. Nair Ali spoke on behalf of the teachers, Amarendra Kumar Verma on behalf of non-teaching staff, and Devanand Kumar on behalf of casual workers. Shashi Singh conducted the programme.
