Sadashibpur (Odisha): On the occasion of World Environment Day, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) – Sadashibpur CUF Depot, in collaboration with Rotary Club Bhubaneswar (RI District 3262) and Friends of Environment, Odisha, organized a Tree Plantation Drive and an Awareness Talk, themed on this year’s national campaign: “One Nation, One Mission – End Plastic Pollution.”
The event commenced with all attendees taking the “Swachh Bharat, Harit Bharat” pledge, renewing their collective duty to protect the environment and contribute to a plastic-free India.
As part of the initiative, 500 saplings were planted within the depot premises, reaffirming a strong commitment to environmental conservation and a greener future.
A key highlight of the programme was an engaging awareness session conducted specifically for contract labourers and on-site personnel. The session focused on practical ways to reduce plastic usage and adopt sustainable habits in daily life. Participants were sensitized to the harmful effects of plastic pollutions and encouraged to embrace eco-friendly alternatives.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including a Retired Major General, former Chief Conservator of Forests (Indian Forest Service), retired BPCL professionals and other distinguished guests. Their presence marked the significance of united efforts in environmental protection and inspired participants with their words and wisdom.
This community-driven initiative not only strengthened environmental awareness but also served as a call to action for every citizen to play their part in creating a cleaner, healthier planet. The successful collaboration among industry, civil society and environmental groups made the event a shining example of what can be achieved through unity and shared purpose.
