DSPMU Sanskrit Department organises Shravan Festival-cum-Farewell Ceremony

Ranchi: Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) Sanskrit Department organized the Shravan Festival-cum-Farewell Ceremony on Sunday. Postgraduate fourth semester and undergraduate sixth-semester students were bid farewell during the event.

Students presented various cultural programs during the Shravan Festival-cum-Farewell Ceremony. These included classical dance, music, and theatrical performances. The event was imbued with spirituality through the recitation of Sanskrit verses and devotional songs. The students’ performances captivated the audience, who applauded them with thunderous applause.

The cultural programs presented by the students brought the ceremony to life. In classical dance, the students showcased their exceptional dance skills, mesmerizing the audience. In the music presentation, the students sang Sanskrit verses and hymns to melodious tunes, creating a captivating atmosphere. The theatrical performance filled the audience with joy and added a special charm to the overall event.

The chief guest, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, head of the Sanskrit Department at Sanskrit College, Ranchi, addressed the students, saying, “Continue to spread the fragrance of the knowledge you have gained throughout society.” He further added, “A person with control, sweetness, and beauty in their speech can achieve the highest goals in life.” He advised the students that self-study should continue until the last breath. He expressed his commitment to the importance and preservation of the Sanskrit language, stating, “Sanskrit is not only our cultural heritage but also the foundation of Indian knowledge and science.” He inspired the students to remain dedicated to the study of Sanskrit and praised the department’s activities.

The special guest, Dr. Rahul Kumar, Assistant Professor at Marwari College, Ranchi, said, “We should follow the path to excellence that great people have practiced in their lives.” Dr. Kumar highlighted the importance of increasing awareness of the Sanskrit language among the youth. He praised the efforts of the Sanskrit Department, stating, “Such events ignite interest and dedication towards Sanskrit among students.”

Esteemed guest Amitabh Kumar said, “Life is not like a stagnant pond, but rather it has the dynamism of a flowing river.” He encouraged the students, saying, “Continue to progress at every step of life.”

Departmental teacher Dr. Shrimita Kumari wished the students well, saying, “One should always move towards their goal while fighting against obstacles.” She added, “The Sanskrit Department is always striving for the holistic development of students.” She wished the students a bright future and said, “Farewell is not just a formality but the beginning of a new journey.”

Departmental teacher Dr. Jagadamba Prasad also shared his thoughts, saying, “Wherever the students go, they should promote the Sanskrit language and culture and make it an integral part of their lives.”

The ceremony began with Vedic chanting and the lighting of the lamp. The Vedic invocation was performed by student Tanu Singh, and the secular invocation was performed by Surendra Pawan and Laleshwar. The event was hosted by students Ayush Kumar and Dolly Kumari.
