E-Sports Competition Organised at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University

Ranchi: An E-Sports Competition was organised by the Department of BCA, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU), Ranchi, under the aegis of Coders Hub. The competition aimed to provide students with a platform to showcase their technical and gaming skills while fostering strategic thinking, leadership qualities, quick decision-making abilities and a spirit of healthy competition. The competition was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Rajiv Manohar.

Addressing the students on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Manohar encouraged them to participate in the competition with enthusiasm, confidence and a positive spirit. He highlighted the growing significance of E-Sports and the diverse career opportunities emerging in this field. He observed that E-Sports is no longer merely a means of entertainment but has emerged as an important and promising career domain for young people. Professional gaming, game development, E-Sports management, digital content creation, live streaming, technology and several other allied fields offer extensive career opportunities to students. He also encouraged students to develop discipline, creativity and a positive outlook along with technical knowledge.

The Coordinator of the Department, Dr. Namita Lal, also motivated the students and encouraged them to move forward with discipline, teamwork and a spirit of positive competition. She emphasised that such competitions provide students with valuable opportunities to showcase their talents, learn from one another and enhance their abilities. The faculty members of the department, Dr. Dharmaraj Kumar, Dr. Syed Jafar Abbas, Dr. Ranjan Kumar and Shweta Kumari, encouraged the participants and boosted their morale throughout the competition.

In the E-Sports Competition organised under Coders Hub, Shashi Kumar of B.Sc. (IT) emerged as the Winner, while Suraj Singh Munda of BCA secured the position of Runner-up. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who displayed their skills and abilities with great zeal and a healthy competitive spirit.

The competition organised by the Department of BCA marked a significant initiative towards the holistic development of students. Besides enhancing gaming skills, the event contributed to the development of strategic thinking, leadership qualities, technical proficiency, teamwork and the ability to take quick and effective decisions. The initiative also provided students with an opportunity to explore their potential in emerging fields by bringing together education, technology and skill development.
