RANCHI: Prominent Ranchi-based advocate Vivek Arya has issued a legal defamation notice to M/s Premsons Motor Udyog Pvt. Ltd. and its CEO, Pankaj Jain, demanding an unconditional public apology and monetary compensation.
The legal action follows an interview broadcasted by News 11 Bharat Digital on 17 July 2026, which was subsequently shared on the automobile company’s official Facebook page. In the footage, company representatives allegedly labeled Advocate Arya a “blackmailer” and accused him of extortion (“rangdari”).
Representing Arya, Advocate Ravi Kumar categorically denied the allegations, calling them entirely false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to malign the professional reputation of a respected member of the bar. Arya, who was honored with the ‘Jharkhand Ratna’ in 2024, claims the viral video has caused severe mental distress and financial damage.
The defamation notice gives Premsons Motors a strict 7-day ultimatum to fulfill the following demands:
* Public Apology: Issue an unconditional, written public apology to the aggrieved advocate.
* Content Removal: Immediately delete all defamatory videos, posts, and interviews from all digital and social media platforms.
* Financial Damages: Pay damages equivalent to 0.01% of Premsons Motor Udyog Pvt. Ltd.’s annual turnover for FY 2025-26.
The notice explicitly warns that failure to comply within the 7-day period will compel Arya to initiate formal civil and criminal defamation proceedings under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, in a competent court. Copies of the notice have also been forwarded to the company’s Director and CMD, Punit Kumar Poddar.
