Institute of Hotel Management, Ranchi welcomed its new batch of B. Sc. H&HA 2026-27 students with a vibrant Orientation ceremony
Ranchi: IHM Ranchi, affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and functioning under the Department of Tourism, Government of Jharkhand, organised an Orientation Programme – Anusthapan for the newly admitted students of the Academic Session 2026–27. The programme was organised to acquaint the students with the institute’s academic framework, training methodology, institutional regulations, industry expectations, and career opportunities in the hospitality sector.
Ms. Anjali Yadav, Additional Secretary, Department of Higher & Technical Education, Government of Jharkhand, and Controller of Examinations, JCECEB, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Mr. Yogesh Kumar, General Manager, Ramada by Wyndham, Ranchi, was the Guest of Honour.
The programme commenced with a tree plantation drive by the dignitaries, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting. Students presented a Ganesh Vandana and a traditional Jhumar folk dance depicting the cultural heritage of Jharkhand. The dignitaries were felicitated by the Principal.
On the occasion, Mr. Sarvesh Sinha, the top-ranking student among the newly admitted batch, was felicitated with a certificate by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour for his outstanding performance in the NCHM JEE Entrance Examination.
Addressing the attendees, Ms. Anjali Yadav said that admission to IHM Ranchi marks the beginning of a significant professional journey. She observed that the institute has been consistently strengthening hospitality education through quality training and industry-oriented learning. She encouraged students to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills, particularly by leveraging emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, and to make optimum use of industrial internships for gaining practical exposure. She emphasised the importance of professional competence, communication skills, additional language proficiency, certification programmes, and continuous learning in enhancing employability. Referring to Jharkhand’s rich tribal heritage, traditional cuisine, GI-tagged products, and cultural diversity, she encouraged students from different parts of the country to understand and promote the state’s unique identity.
In his address, Mr. Yogesh Kumar, GM, Ramada stated that the hospitality industry offers significant opportunities for dedicated and disciplined professionals. He highlighted the importance of punctuality, commitment, teamwork, and perseverance in building a successful career. Sharing his professional journey, he motivated students to remain focused on their goals and to convert challenges into opportunities through continuous learning and hard work. He also invited the students to visit Ramada by Wyndham, Ranchi, to gain greater exposure to hotel operations.
Welcoming the guests with the traditional greeting “Johar,” Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Principal, IHM Ranchi, welcomed the newly admitted students to the institute and described the orientation programme as the beginning of a new phase in their academic and professional lives. He urged students to pursue excellence through discipline, dedication, integrity, and lifelong learning. Dr. Kumar stated that IHM Ranchi has established itself among the leading government hotel management institutes in the country through quality education, modern training facilities, strong industry linkages, and consistent placement performance. He reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to preparing skilled hospitality professionals capable of meeting national and international industry requirements. He also acknowledged the continued support of the Department of Tourism, Government of Jharkhand, in the institute’s growth and development.
During the orientation programme, students were briefed on the institute’s academic structure, departments, laboratories, library, hostel facilities, industrial training, internship programme, examination system, and placement process. They were also informed about the institutional mechanisms relating to the Anti-Ragging Committee, Discipline Committee, Internal Complaints Committee, Student Welfare Cell, and other administrative support systems. The students were also taken for campus tour to familiarise with infrastructure, classes, labs, recreational facilities of the institute.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which the newly admitted students expressed enthusiasm about commencing their academic journey at IHM Ranchi. Faculty members, officers, staff, senior students, and a large number of newly admitted students attended the programme.
