DLSA creates awareness against drug abuse among children in conflict with law

Ranchi: Over 100 children in conflict with law kept for proper observation at Observation Home in Dumardaga in Jharkhand capital were today made aware of the negative impact of drug abuse.

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and district administration on the direction of Jharkhand Legal Service Authority (JHALSA) had organised the programme.
Street corner play by local artists was used to create awareness. The message was given that drug addiction is such an evil which destroys entire life. It was communicated that a person suffering from drug addiction becomes a burden on the family as well as the society.
Family Court Principal Judge Rajesh Kumar Singh was present as the chief guest in the programme. He told the children about the ill effects of drug abuse and also gave information about the law made against drug dealers.

 

Doctor Siddheshwar Bakshi present during the programme explained how the brain becomes dry due to drug abuse. “If the medicine is used for treatment, then it is lifesaving but when people use the same for pleasure harms and claim lives. Consuming drugs in excessive quantities causes the brain to become dry and adversely affects the ability to think and understand,” he said.

 

Head of an NGO, Live Savers, Atul Gera, explained how drugs pave the path of destruction.
“Drug addiction is the door to destruction. It first of all distances a person from his family. Also, due to his bad habit, the victim goes through a period of financial crisis, due to which negative feelings develop in him and with time even his close friends leave him,” he said.

District Social Welfare Officer Surbhi Singh motivated children to teach society to stay away from drugs. “I hope after getting rid of drug abuse children will never consume drugs and will teach people in the society to stay away from it,” she said.

 

District Child Protection Officer Ved Prakash informed about drug de addiction centre to children. “The government has established a de-addiction centre for those who have become drug addicts and are trying to quit. Drug addicts who intend to quit are treated here under the supervision of good doctors,” he said.

 

Mediator and social worker Shri Panchanan Singh suggested Yoga to get rid of drugs. “The best way to stay away from drug addiction is to meditate so that wrong thoughts will never come in your mind, and you will never walk in the wrong direction. Therefore, do yoga and meditation daily,” he said.
In the programme it was decided that those present in there will administer oath of not taking drugs to people in their contact.
The programme was conducted by the DLSA secretary Kamlesh Behera. Juvenile Justice Board member Vineeta Jaipuriar proposed a vote of thanks. Child Welfare Committee members. Priyaranjan Kumar, Anshumala Karna, PLV Baby Sinha, Vicky Kumar Choudhary, and employees of Juvenile Justice Board were also present on the occasion.
