RTI activist asks union labour ministry for proper updating of EPF account

Ranchi: RTI activist Sarvesh Kumar Singh knocks on the door of the union labour and employment minister for proper updating of the EPF account.

“It is humbly requested that the amount deposited by the institutions in the EPFO account of EPFO members is not reflected in the EPFO portal. The ministry that has been given to you has the most shortcomings; global consensus is needed to improve it,” Singh said, writing a letter on Sunday.

Singh said non-reflection of payment deposited in the EPFO account created payment hurdles before many vendors.
“EPFO is not reflecting the amount. Due to which payment of many vendors is not being released. This has caused inconvenience to vendors,” he said.

The RTI activist said without proper use of the portal, the expenditure of a big amount on its maintenance is becoming a wasteful expenditure. “During the last three years, a total of Rs 340 crore has been spent on the EPFO portal. It is proving to be a white elephant,” he further wrote.
