BAU scientist nominated as national spokesperson of Indian Veterinary Association

Ranchi: The Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) has nominated Dr. Nandani Kumari, Assistant Professor of Animal Genetics & Breeding at Birsa Agricultural University (BAU), Ranchi, as its national spokesperson. IVA, headquartered in New Delhi, is the apex organization of over sixty thousand veterinarians of the country and has a history of more than 75 years.

According to the office order issued by IVA President Dr. Umesh Chandra, the national spokesperson is the official voice of the IVA, responsible for articulating and communicating its positions, policies, and responses to the public, media, and key stakeholders. The role is central to maintaining the organization’s image, shaping public perception, and ensuring consistent messaging nationwide.

Dr. Nandani will represent and promote the organization’s official positions and narratives in the media and public platforms, ensuring timely, clear, and consistent communication aligned with IVA’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives, and report directly to the secretary general/president/zonal secretary (HQ) and collaborate closely with them and headquarters. She is required to assist in crisis communication and reputation management and contribute to the organization’s overall public relations and communication strategy. Dr. Sharma is also the president of the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), entrusted with the responsibilities of making provisions for the regulation of veterinary practice and standards of veterinary education.

Dr Nandani Kumari has been teaching animal genetics at BAU for over a decade and has earlier served as Jharkhand Convenor and East Zone Convenor of IVA Lady Wing. She is an impressive orator and poet, has anchored several national conferences and seminars, penned over half a dozen books, and has represented BAU in debate and elocution at All India University Fests during student life.

Out of the eight national spokespersons and co-spokespersons nominated by IVA, she is the only lady veterinarian. Other spokespersons are Dr. Salil Hande (Maharashtra), Dr. Reyaz (J&K), Dr. Sankarsen (Odhisa), and Dr. Bhupendra (Delhi), and co-spokespersons are Dr Himanshu Pratap Singh (MP), Dr. Sarpreet Singh, and Dr. R. Sokkalingam (both Uttarakhand).
