No Verdict Yet: Anganwadi Helper Leela Sinha Awaits Justice Despite Multiple Official Inquiries

CHATRA (ITKHORI): The case of Leela Sinha, an Anganwadi helper at the Rajwar center in Itkhori block, has become a glaring example of administrative delay. Despite moving from ‘Janata Darbar’ to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the aggrieved worker continues to perform her duties without her attendance being recorded or a final decision being made on her employment status.

Inquiry Shuffled Across Departments

Four weeks ago, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Anand confirmed he was aware of the issue and had ordered an inquiry. Following this directive, the Itkhori Block Development Officer (BDO) verified Sinha’s documents and forwarded the report to the district headquarters.

During this probe, Sinha was instructed to resume her duties. However, the Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) recently stated that the inquiry process could not be completed before he handed over his charge, leaving the case in administrative limbo.

Working Without Attendance or Pay

Sinha has been regularly providing her services at the center since the BDO’s instruction. Despite her consistent presence, the center is not recording her attendance. Local officials claim they cannot log her hours without explicit orders from the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and the Supervisor.

Victim Makes Emotional Appeal

Facing severe mental, social, and financial distress for months, Leela Sinha has appealed directly to the district administration for clarity.

“If I am in the wrong, I should be removed from service via a written order. However, if I am in the right, I should be granted justice; my employment status should be regularized, and a decision should be made regarding the honorarium for the months I was kept away from work.”

Demands for Transparency

The prolonged delay has raised serious questions among locals and fellow Anganwadi workers regarding the functioning of the CDPO office. Residents are now demanding a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation to resolve the matter. All eyes remain on the district administration to see when a final verdict will be delivered to give the helper the relief she has been seeking for months.
