CEED Spreads Festive Cheer with a Green Diwali Celebration at Adim Jati Seva Mandal

Ranchi: In the spirit of Diwali, the Centre for Environment and Energy Development (CEED), in collaboration with Adim Jati Seva Mandal, hosted a special pre-Diwali celebration in Ranchi that blended creativity, community, and climate consciousness.

The event brought smiles and colors to the lives of children at Adim Jati Seva Mandal through a lively art workshop led by renowned artist Sabir Hussain, a two-time Limca Book of Records awardee for Art and Craft. Mr. Hussain, along with his volunteer students, guided the children through engaging activities such as diya painting and rangoli making, encouraging them to express their imagination and festive spirit through art.

Speaking at the event, Sabir Hussain said, “Art has the power to connect, inspire, and heal. Seeing these children create with such joy and confidence is the true spirit of Diwali, spreading light, creativity, and hope.”

The celebration was supported by Mr. Gopinath Singh Munda, who heads Adim Jati Seva Mandal and has long championed the welfare and education of children from marginalized communities. Expressing his appreciation, he shared, “We are grateful to CEED and the artists for bringing this joy to our children. Initiatives like these not only make them feel seen and celebrated, but also teach the importance of caring for the environment and community.”

As part of the outreach, CEED’s team also conducted an interactive session on ‘Green Diwali’, encouraging the children to adopt eco-friendly festive practices, from using sustainable decorations to minimizing firecracker use.

Mr Ramapati Kumar, CEO, CEED, added, “Festivals are moments of joy, but also of reflection. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire young minds to see that celebration and sustainability can go hand in hand.”
The event concluded with a cheerful display of the children’s artwork and an exchange of Diwali greetings,  a true celebration of art, awareness, and togetherness.

This initiative reflects CEED’s ongoing commitment to fostering environmental awareness through inclusive community engagement, ensuring that the message of a green and joyful Diwali shines brightly in every heart.
