IHM Ranchi unveils Coffee Table Book “Savouring Jharkhand: A Culinary Journey of Indigenous Flavours”

Ranchi: Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Ranchi, released its coffee table book “Savouring Jharkhand: A Culinary Journey of Indigenous Flavours” at a special ceremony held in the Project Bhawan Auditorium. The book was formally unveiled by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren in the gracious presence of Tourism Minister Shri Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Mahua Manjhi, Chief Secretary Smt. Alka Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Jharkhand Shri Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary Urban Development, Shri Sunil Kumar, Tourism Secretary, Shri Manoj Kumar, and Principal of IHM Ranchi Dr. Bhupesh Kumar.

The program began with the traditional lamp lighting, followed by welcome of dignitaries. The Coffee Table book is a compilation of Jharkhand’s traditional indigenous tribal dishes, showcasing the unique blend of the state’s cuisine, culture, natural wealth, and lifestyle.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren said, “Jharkhand’s food is a treasure trove of native flavours, deeply connected with our culture, traditions, and natural resources. The Coffee Table Book beautifully showcases our rich culinary heritage and will help make it accessible to a wider audience.”


Tourism Minister Shri Sudivya Kumar Sonu appreciated the initiative, stating, “Jharkhand is full of enchanting beauty — lush forests, flowing waterfalls, and a rich tribal heritage that comes alive through its traditions and cuisine. Our food is not just nourishment; it is a reflection of our history, lifestyle, and deep connection with nature. This book is a journey to the heart of Jharkhand, celebrating its flavours, cooking techniques, and the warmth of its hospitality.”

Principal Dr. Bhupesh Kumar expressed his gratitude to the Tourism Department, Government of Jharkhand, the faculty, and all contributors for their efforts. He said the book would not only benefit culinary lovers and tourists but also help Jharkhand’s rich food heritage gain recognition at national and international levels.
