DSPMU Sanskrit Department observes Teachers’ Day

Ranchi: Teachers’ Day was enthusiastically observed on Friday by the Sanskrit Department students of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University in Ranchi. The students went above and beyond to honor the role models in their lives by expressing their sincere gratitude to them through a number of cultural programmes.

The ceremonial lighting of the lamp, which represents the eradication of darkness and the arrival of knowledge, marked the start of the event. Vijay Raj Nand then led a Vedic incantation, which brought calm and good fortune to the festivities. Tanu, Prerna, and Pallavi then enthralled the crowd with their customary invocation. Department student Ayush Kumar used the occasion to honor and introduce the distinguished guests in attendance. The welcome song performed by Pratima, Raina, Nikita, Varsha, and others added to the festive mood.

In a moving address, student Surendra Mahto emphasized the importance of Teacher’s Day by reminding everyone that “A good teacher is like a candle—it consumes itself to light the way for others.” Then Shobha Munda gave a heartfelt performance of stotras. Surabhi Singh captivated the audience with her recital of shlokas, demonstrating her deep reverence and commitment to the Sanskrit language. Anamika Bharti captivated the audience with her solo dance performance, an artistic homage that brought the celebration’s core to life.


The audience was taken to a realm of piety and reverence by Tanu Singh’s devotional song, which gave the occasion a deeper spiritual depth. The audience was captivated by Anamika Bharti’s poetry recital, which brought back memories of students’ appreciation and respect for their instructors. The program was given fresh life and energy by the group dance performed by Deep Ekka, Anamika, Nikita, and Gudiya.
In his address, the program’s Chief Guest, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, a senior teacher at the Government Sanskrit College, spoke eloquently about how teachers mold students’ characters by providing them with knowledge, experience, and guidance, thereby preparing them to be responsible members of society. He emphasized the value of honoring educators and applying their lessons to everyday life, quoting the adage, “The fruit of education is sweet, but its roots are bitter.”

Presiding over the event, Dr. Dhananjay Vasudeo Dwivedi, Head of the Sanskrit Department at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, emphasized that the aim of education extends beyond merely acquiring certificates; it is about the pursuit of knowledge, character building, and developing a spirit of service to society. He encouraged students to excel in their educational endeavors, reminding them that “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”

Dr. Shrimita, a faculty member, highlighted that true education is realized only when its values are integrated into one’s life. She stressed the importance of self-development and self-realization through education, urging students to make learning an integral part of their lives.

Another faculty member Dr. Jagadamba Prasad said, “Teachers are the guiding stars of society,” and without their selfless service, societal progress is unthinkable. He elaborated on the roles teachers’ play—not just as educators, but as mentors, friends, and counselors, equipping students to face life’s challenges.
The programme concluded on a serene note with a vote of thanks presented by Menka Kumari, followed by the chanting of the Shanti Mantra by Prerna Kumari, leaving the audience with a sense of peace and fulfillment. The entire event was gracefully anchored by Pratima Chauhan and Shivam Narayan, whose seamless coordination ensured the programme was a resounding success, encapsulating the spirit of Teacher’s Day.
