RANCHI: As part of their winter study tour, two groups of trainee Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers visited the Birsa Munda Airport today to gain firsthand insight into the complexities of the civil aviation sector.
The prospective administrators were briefed on the technicalities of runway management, taxiways, and essential airside facilities. The visit included detailed sessions on the functions of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower and the critical role of Communication and Navigation Systems (CNS) in ensuring flight safety. The officers were given a practical demonstration by the Aircraft Accident and Fire Service (ARFF) on emergency response protocols.
The Birsa Munda Airport administration also shared insights into current passenger convenience measures and safety arrangements. This study tour is designed to bridge the gap between administrative theory and operational reality. As these officers prepare for future roles as District Collectors and Departmental Secretaries, understanding the logistics of a high-traffic AAI-managed airport is crucial for managing regional infrastructure and disaster response.
