Rs 40.20 lakh in cash recovered from a vehicle

Latehar: Following the announcement of the 2026 Nagar Panchayat elections, the Latehar police are on high alert and conducting intensive vehicle checks.

In this connection, the SST (Static Surveillance Team) deployed at Karkat under the Sadar police station area achieved a major success. During a routine vehicle check, the team stopped a suspicious Swift Dzire car (JH01CA 9495). Upon searching the vehicle, Rs 40.20 lakh in cash was recovered.

According to the investigating team, the occupants of the vehicle could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the recovered amount. The entire amount has been seized. A detailed investigation is underway to determine the source and destination of the recovered money. The Income Tax Department and other relevant agencies have also been informed.
