IIAB and CUJ Inks MoU

Ranchi: The Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (IIAB), a research and academic institution under the aegis of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) situated at Garhkhatanga, Ranchi, and the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 14th, 2025, to foster academic and research collaboration.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director and Registrar, CUJ, in the presence of Dr. Manoj Kumar, Professor and Dean, Science, CUJ; Dr. Biplab Sarkar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-IIAB; and other senior officials of the Central University of Jharkhand.

Director of ICAR-IIAB, Dr. Sujay Rakshit, emphasized the need for a functional MoU integrating the niche research area of collaborative institutes. IIAB offers a range of programs, including B.Tech. in Biotechnology, M.Sc. in five, and Ph.D. in three programmes under the IARI Mega University, an initiative of ICAR aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. Central University of Jharkhand has 25 departments and 9 schools of study, which offer a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs across various fields like engineering, life sciences, and mass communication.

The MoU aims to facilitate the exchange of faculties, students, resources, research facilities, and infrastructure between the two institutions. By sharing academic and research assets, both institutes intend to optimize resource utilization and enhance the quality of their academic offerings and research outputs. The partnership will also encourage collaborative research projects, knowledge sharing, and innovation across disciplines. This collaboration is expected to benefit students, faculty, and the broader academic community by promoting cutting-edge research and providing access to state-of-the-art research facilities.
