RU Zoology professor delivers lecture on community radio at Mumbai

Ranchi: Ranchi University’s zoology department professor, Dr. Anand Kumar Thakur, on Saturday delivered a lecture on community radio during “National Conference of Community Radio,” which was held at Jio World Center, Mumbai, under the WAVES programme.

The programme was organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Dr. Thakur was invited to the programme as a community radio expert.

“Community radio should move with the digital world. Creating interesting content on local topics builds identity. Going among the people of the society, their words should be given space on the radio. Economic status can be strengthened by crowdfunding promotion of government schemes, CSR funds of companies, and consultancy,” Dr. Thakur said while delivering his lecture.

The conference was inaugurated by the Minister of State, Government of India, Murugan. Dr. Thakur was accompanied by Dr. R. Sridhar, Mrs. Archana Kapoor, and Dr. Kanchan Malik on the subject of the sustainable economic status of community radio.

Amit Dwivedi, project director, Community Radio, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, moderated the programme.

Dr. Thakur was honoured with a shawl and memento by Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Director, Community Radio Wing, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and Dr. Rachna Sharma, IIMC.
