NSUI will oppose Ranchi University move to give teaching responsibility to research scholar

Ranchi: NSUI expressed its concern over the plan of giving teaching responsibility to research scholars in Ranchi University.

NSUI state vice president Aman Ahmed through a press statement said the plan, which is not in accordance with UGC, JPSC and University Act, will hamper the quality of higher education.

“In view of the shortage of teachers in Ranchi University, Vice Chancellor Dr.Ajit Kumar Sinha is considering giving the responsibility of teaching to research scholars, which is fatal for the quality of higher education. On the other hand, there is no provision in UGC, JPSC and University Act that you can give the responsibility of teaching to research scholars instead of permanent faculty,” he said.

Ahmed said his organisation will strongly oppose the move of giving teaching responsibility to research scholars.

“If Ranchi University takes such a decision, then it will be strongly opposed by the organization,” he said.

Ahmed advised to take service of deserving guest facilities instead of allowing research scholars to teach.

“The university is crying about the shortage of teachers, while for the last several years, guest teachers have handled this workload very well. Despite this, they have also been stopped from working. This makes it clear that the university has nothing to do with education. The Vice Chancellor only wants to do politics. His tenure is of just a few days, so he wants to leave by creating problems in the university and complicating things. The Student Union will not let him do this. NSUI will take whatever justifiable step is in the interest of the students. Until permanent recruitment is done by JPSC, the services of guest teachers should be taken on a temporary basis, but in this too nepotism will have to be set aside,” he said.
