Ranchi: A special camp was organized in the Railway Court premises under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi for speedy disposal of cases pending at Railway Court through plea bargaining under National Lok Adalat.
Judicial commissioner Diwakar Pandey was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion and the stage was conducted by Railway Judicial Magistrate Bijay Kumar Yadav.
The camp helped dispose of 95 of 284 pending cases reducing the case pendency figure to 189. Along with this, the railway department also received compensation of Rs 7,80,000 as damages cum compensation on the spot.
One of the important cases disposed of on the occasion was concerned with a senior section engineer of South Eastern Railway Asheshwar Kumar Mehta which was disposed of with acceptance of guilt under Section 175 and 154 of Indian Railway Act.
Railway Judicial Magistrate Bijay Kumar Yadav punished him and ordered him to pay Rs. 15000/- compensation to the Railways. He also and also provided the benefit of Section 12 probation.
Additional judicial commissioner Prabhat Sharma, railway judicial magistrate Bijay Kumar Yadav, assistant commercial manager of railway Anil Jeray, advocates and various RPF staff were present on the occasion.
Addressing the programme Judicial Commissioner Pandey explained the objective of the camp.
“The main objective of organizing the Plea-Bargaining Special Camp is to settle the pending cases in the Railway Court. Plea-Bargaining Special Camps are organized from time to time and will be organized in future too,” he said.
Additional Judicial Commissioner Sharma focused on the benefits of quick disposal.
