NSUI challenges competence of Ranchi University VC after NAAC awarded B++ grade to the university 

Ranchi: Jharkhand unit of NSUI challenged competence of Ranchi University VC after the university got B++ grade from NAAC team.

NSUI state vice president Aman Ahmad alleged Ranchi University VC of being involved more in politics than academics and administration.

“Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Dr Ajit Kumar Sinha is less involved in teaching, learning and administrative system and more involved in politics. The proof of this is Ranchi University getting B++ from the NAAC team. It is very shameful for the students of the state that the oldest and most prestigious university of the state has got B++ whereas universities formed later like Vinoba Bhave University, Kolhan and other universities have also been given B++ by the NAAC team,” he said.

Ahmed expressed his concern over the poor performance of Ranchi University despite all facilities.

“It is worth noting that Ranchi University is located in the heart of the city in the middle of the capital. The state government spends the maximum amount for its promotion and development. Ranchi University has a lot of infrastructure in comparison to other universities of the state, yet it is unfortunate that it got B++. Vice Chancellor Dr Sinha has completely failed in his tenure. As far as the question of shortage of teachers is concerned, it is not only about Ranchi University. There is a huge shortage of teachers in all the universities across the state. Despite this other universities get B++ and the Vice Chancellor is trying to hide his failure by crying about the teachers,’ he said.

Student leader Ahmed said: “There has been a shortage of teachers in Ranchi University for the last three decades but the university has never been in such a bad condition as it has been during his tenure. Actually, this Vice Chancellor has nothing to do with the promotion and development of Ranchi University. This is the reason that Ranchi University could not live up to the expectations during the visit of the NAAC team and seemed satisfied with getting B++. Had the Vice Chancellor thought about the interest of the university, he would have made every possible effort to ensure that the university gets A++”.

“The National Student Union Of India is not satisfied with the tenure of the current Vice Chancellor and demands a complete investigation of his tenure. Also, it demands the removal of the Vice Chancellor from his post. The tenure of the current Vice Chancellor is only three months left, so in a hurry, he was going to appoint external candidates in the need based assistant professor appointment, but due to the efforts of the National Student Union of India, his plan has been thwarted, so he is thinking of going to the Raj Bhavan in panic, while he is not aware that the National Student union of India has informed His Excellency the Governor about all the matters through a letter and has demanded appropriate action,” he said.

NSUI’s demand

1) The Vice Chancellor should make public the achievements of his tenure and should also say that when the government has provided all the facilities in the university, then why do the students here not pass with good marks….???

2) Why did the students of Ranchi University lag behind in the need based assistant professor appointment…???

3) Why did Ranchi University not get A+ or A++ from NAAC…???

4) In the NAAC inspection conducted in 2017, NAAC members had said that, out of all the universities in Jharkhand, Ranchi University’s EDPC is the best, the system here is good.

Then what was the need that EDPC had to be closed immediately, it has been turned into ruins and the employees there have been kept in the headquarters for months. Their services are not being taken. And the Vice Chancellor is crying that there is a huge shortage of employees.

Many allegations have been made against the current Vice Chancellor in the past as well, so it is appealed to the Governor, Chief Minister, Education Minister that his entire tenure should be thoroughly investigated and he should be removed from the post of Vice Chancellor with immediate effect and a local educationist should be nominated as the Vice Chancellor so that the plight of Ranchi University can improve.
