Dr. Bhupesh Kumar Meets Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar
Says IHM Ranchi plans to train 500 rural women and establish 100 'Palash Didi Cafes' across Jharkhand
Ranchi: Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Principal of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Ranchi, paid a courtesy visit to Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, on Thursday. Extending warm wishes for Christmas and the New Year, Dr. Kumar apprised the Governor of the institute’s remarkable achievements and ongoing initiatives.
During the interaction, Dr. Bhupesh highlighted that IHM Ranchi has been ranked No. 1 among emerging hotel management institutes in India in the India Today 2024 rankings. The institute also secured 6th position in the GRDC Survey and 1st place in the Competition Success Review 2024 rankings.
He further elaborated on the institute’s commitment to promoting rural entrepreneurship through its collaboration with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS). Under this initiative, IHM Ranchi plans to train 500 rural women and establish 100 ‘Palash Didi Cafes’ across Jharkhand within the next three years, fostering empowerment and innovation in the food service sector.
Dr. Kumar also shared details about IHM Ranchi’s upcoming two-day International Chef Conference and National Cookery Competition, which aim to revive and document the state’s traditional and forgotten cuisines. A coffee table book, dedicated to showcasing Jharkhand’s indigenous culinary heritage, will be published as part of this initiative.
In a gesture of appreciation, the institute presented the Governor with a recipe book titled “Madua Cookies: Hidden Treasures of Jharkhand”, featuring millet-based recipes, along with an assortment of cakes and bakery products prepared by the students.
Governor Gangwar lauded the efforts of IHM Ranchi and expressed his support for their endeavors to uplift Jharkhand’s culinary traditions and rural communities.
