Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh to launch a series of special awareness programmes

Ranchi: Mahendra Kumar, the Senior National Vice President of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) declared on Sunday that the Mahasangh plans to launch a series of special awareness programmes in the coming year across all educational institutions.

These programmes will spotlight critical themes such as environmental conservation, family enlightenment, civic duties, self-awareness, and the principle that ‘All Indians are One.’ Shri Kumar made these remarks while addressing a meeting of the Mahasangh’s Higher Education Wing of the Jharkhand State Executive, held at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.

Mr. Mahendra Kumar expressed confidence that such initiatives would help sow the seeds of Indian values and principles, ultimately reaping a rich harvest of national pride and unity. He underscored the importance of a learner-centered approach in education, one that nurtures the all-around development of students, enabling them to grow intellectually, physically, mentally, morally, and spiritually. ‘Education’, he emphasized, ‘is not just about filling a pail, but about lighting a fire’. He urged the state unit of the Mahasangh to set clear goals and pursue them with the fervor of a man on a mission, assuring them that the central unit would lend its unwavering support wherever necessary.

Mr. Kumar called upon the various cells of the Mahasangh’s unit to throw themselves heart and soul into achieving their respective targets. Highlighting the need for a proactive stance, he emphasized that ‘a stitch in time saves nine’, urging the members to identify the problems faced by teachers and address them with dedicated efforts. He reminded them that the success of the Mahasangh lies not merely in lofty ideals but in rolling up their sleeves and getting down to the brass tacks.

Prof. Sudesh Kumar Sahu, the State President of the Mahasangh, in his presidential address, articulated that the Mahasangh’s mission extends beyond safeguarding the interests of teachers. “We are not here just to protect our own turf”, he remarked, but to collectively strive for transformative changes in the education system.” Prof. Sahu threw light on the Mahasangh’s commitment to establishing and upholding the highest educational standards, akin to setting the gold standard. He reiterated that the mantle of enhancing the quality of education rests squarely on the shoulders of teachers. He advocated that, regardless of the subject they teach, teachers should aim not just to impart textbook knowledge but to also inspire students with a positive outlook on society and life, thus truly educating the mind, heart, and spirit.

Dr. Rajkumar Sharma, Vice President of the Mahasangh’s State Unit, highlighted the pivotal role of education as the bedrock of society, with teachers as its chief architects. Drawing a parallel, he stated, “Just as the foundation of a building determines its strength, the commitment of educators determines the future of the nation”. He stressed that for teachers to maintain their rightful place in society, the Mahasangh must leave no stone unturned in its efforts. Dr. Sharma also underscored the importance of teachers having a significant voice in the formulation of educational policies.

Former State President Dr. Pradeep Kumar proposed that the Mahasangh should regularly organize seminars and workshops to provide teachers with platforms to contribute to nation-building and to shape the social fabric. Echoing the sentiment that ‘knowledge shared is knowledge squared’, he suggested that these gatherings would empower educators to guide the nation’s moral and intellectual compass. Former State General Secretary Dr. Brajesh Kumar added that the success of any organization hinges on the commitment of its members, the relevance of its programs, and the effectiveness of its methods. “

Dr. Abhay Krishna Singh, the State General Secretary of the Mahasangh, set the tone for the meeting by welcoming the members and introducing the agenda. He was joined by distinguished members like Dr. Smriti Singh, Dr. Kumud Kala Mehta, Dr. Kishore Surin, and Dr. Jayaprakash Anand, each of whom shared their insights. Dr. Dhananjay Vasudeo Dwivedi, the State In-charge of the Educational Cell, expressed gratitude on behalf of the attendees.

In the meeting, it was decided that the State Unit of the Mahaasangh would organize a series of lectures and programmes dedicated to Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in September in Ranchi University and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University. Furthermore, a national seminar on ‘India’s Resurgence on the Global Stage’ is slated for December and will be organized in Vinoba Bhave University.

These events aim to kindle dialogue on Indian culture, heritage, and resurgence, with the hope that ‘as iron sharpens iron’, these discussions will inspire a renewed sense of patriotism and cultural consciousness among the public. Ultimately, these initiatives are designed to act as catalysts for positive societal change and cultural renaissance, fostering a sense of pride and purpose that is as enduring as it is profound.
