We all live in an independent India, with many comforts and luxuries, but do you know It wasn’t like this always? If you don’t then come with me.
During and before the 17th century, many Europeans had established a trading route to India . But when the Arabs closed the trading route of Europe with India, the Europeans had to find another route to India.
First Portuguese landed on our shores, then the Dutch, the French and at last , the British. The main purpose of these countries and people was to trade with India. The British East India company started a systematic plunder of India’s wealth . Then, on 8th /9th may ,1857 a revolution occurred: The Sepoy ‘s Mutiny of 1857 , mainly because of the introduction of the infield rifle .
Then In 1869, on 2nd October occurred a major character of Indian Independence: Bapu, A.K.A. Gandhi. When he turned twenty ( and he was married by the time) , he started practicing as a lawyer in S. Africa. Then , in 1917 , he returned to India and when he saw the plight of farmers, he launched the champaran satyagraha . Many other freedom fighters joined him.
The freedom fighters were divided into two groups at the time, namely, “Naramdal or non – violent group” and “Garamdal or the violent group “. These groups had the same objective of a free India. Some of the famous names of the freedom fighters are lala lajpat rai, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Gandhi ji, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Ashfak Ulla Khan , Subhash Chandra Bose and many more. We will forever remain indebted to the freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence. India got independence on 15th August,1947 at 12 o’clock at midnight.
