Police clash with Sahayak Police in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Regular police and contractual police had a clash in Jharkhand capital on Friday.  As many as 20 sustained injuries in the incident. Reason behind the clash was obstruction of regular police in progress of contractual police to CM House breaking four barricades and injuring a dozen of policemen on duty.

Contractual police known as Sahayak Police working in 12 naxal affected districts of Jharkhand on monthly remuneration of Rs 10000 per month since July 2017 and their contract is renewed every year without any hike and incentive. They want regularization of their service.  Government earlier promised them to extend proper support but not supported.

This time they are on do or die agitation. Since July 2 they are in Morabadi ground under tent and mounting pressure on the government to regularise their services. Government has planned 25 percent hike, one year extension of their contract and accommodate them   in Home Guard, Excise Department, Forest Department and other places where men in uniform is required but they are not ready for that so far and want regular service in the police department where they have served during last seven years.
