Auto drivers to meet union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari

Ranchi: Autorickshaw drivers organised under the aegis of Jharkhand State CNG Auto Drivers Federation on Saturday planned meeting union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari to sort out their problem of illegal collection of money by state law enforcers in the name of road permit and route pass.

Federation president Dinesh Soni informed this justifying their plan.

“Auto driver owners and e-rickshaw driver owners are troubled by the illegal recovery of permit and route pass by RTO, DTO, traffic personnel and some road extortionists in the name of permit and route pass and till date, neither permit is being issued to auto driver owners nor road pass is being given to e-rickshaw driver owners. While the High Court directs to have permit and route pass for auto and e-rickshaw, the Transport Department and Ranchi Municipal Corporation has nothing to provide the same,” he said.

“Due to lack of permit and pass due operation of many autos and e-rickshaws of auto driver owners, e-rickshaw driver owners is closed and families depending on earning from this busess are on the verge of starvation,” he said.
