Celebration of World Accreditation Day 2024 at Ranchi by NABL

 

Ranchi: The ’World Accreditation Day (WAD)’, is a global initiative jointly celebrated every year by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to raise awareness on the importance of accreditation-related activities and to promote it amongst all relevant stakeholders.

The theme of World Accreditation Day for this year is “Accreditation: Empowering Tomorrow and Shaping the Future.” This highlights the role of accreditation in harnessing emerging opportunities and addressing global challenges.

 

NABL is one of the constituent boards of Quality Council of India (QCI), an autonomous body under Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
NABL India is a full member and a signatory (since 2000) to International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) as well as Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA). Such international arrangements facilitate acceptance of test/ calibration results between countries that MRA partners represent.

 

NABL Accreditation plays a vital role in ensuring quality infrastructure in our country. NABL has accredited more than 8,000 laboratories. NABL provides accreditation based on international standards: ISO/IEC 17025 for testing and calibration laboratories, ISO 15189 for medical testing (pathology labs) laboratories, ISO/IEC 17043 for PTP, and ISO 17034 for RMP.

This Year, NABL celebrated World accreditation day across 20 cities in India -New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Rajkot, Chennai, Trivandrum, Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Patna, Ranchi, Guwahati, Bhuvneshwar, Raipur, Bhopal, Chandigarh and Jaipur. In Ranchi more than 80 participants from accredited government and private laboratories attended the program. Celebration of Word Day celebration day with lamp lighting ceremony by Shri. Raj Kumar Mallick, IPS Additional Director General, Police Head Quarter, Telecommunication and Technology, Ranchi and Prof. (Dr.) Ajit Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Ranchi University and Ms Rini Narayan, Joint Director NABL.

During the inaugural session, Special address was given by Chief Guest Shri Raj Kumar Mallick, IPS Additional Director General, Police Head Quarter, Telecommunication and Technology. He spoke about importance of accreditation in Safety and Security

Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Ajit Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Ranchi University, Ranchi spoke about the importance of accreditation in Institution and day to day life.

Guest of Honour Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director CSIR- National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur spoke on transformative era of technology such as artificial intelligence and data analytics into the society and industry. As these technologies are fundamentally altering how we interact produce and innovate.
Guest of Honour Prof. Arvind Kumar Mishra, Director, CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, Dhanbad, spoke on NABL role in improving quality in field of mining and fuel research by providing a framework of trust and reliability.

 

Technical Session started with Panel of experts Mr. Goutam Mukhopadhyay, Head, Metallurgical labs, scientific services, Tata steel, Jamshedpur Dr. Ashok K Patra, Emeritus scientist and Former Director, ICAR -Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal , Mr. Aftab Ahmad, Director (Mining) Directorate General of Mines Safety, Ranchi, Dr. Sunil Kumar Mahto, Head of Department-Pathology (RIMS), Ranchi, Ms Rini Narayan, Joint Director, NABL and MS Sangeeta Kunwar, Assistant Director NABL chaired by Prof. Arvind Kumar Mishra, Director, CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, Dhanbad.

Qualmacon session at Ranchi, there was a productive plenary, interactive session and deliberation. Quality Mangers interacted with NABL team and shared their experiences, View and feedback
