Ranchi: Six day special Lok Adalat which concluded on Saturday disposed of 115 cases and settled an amount of more than 4.87 crore.
A statement issued by DLSA secretary Kamlesh Behra informed this.
The special Lok Adalat was organised on the instruction of Jharkhand High Court Justice-cum-Executive Chairman, JHALSA, Sujit Narayan Prasad and under the guidance of Judicial Commissioner-cum-Chairman DLSA, Ranchi, Diwakar Pandey.
During six days, pre-Lok Adalat meetings were held with the parties in the premises of Civil Court, Ranchi from June 3 to June 7 for settlement of motor vehicle accident cases and on the concluding day a special Lok Adalat was organised.
One bench was constituted for the special Lok Adalat (motor accident claim cases), in which Mr. Manish, P.O. M.A.C.T., Mr. Praveen Kumar Srivastava, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel were present.
“In today’s special Lok Adalat, a total of 500 identified cases were placed before the bench for settlement, out of which a total of 115 cases were settled. Judicial commissioner distributed a settlement amount of Rs. 4,87,45,000/- (four crore, eighty-seven lakh forty-five thousand) among the victims and the victims’ dependents,” statement issued by DLSA secretary Behra reads.
Judicial commissioner on the occasion underlined the important of Lok Adalat saying ‘it is cheapest and the best forum to get justice.’
